We are Bob and Joan Doyle. Our kennel “Tartan Tollers” is located approximately 30 miles east of Philadelphia in southern New Jersey. We are relatively new to Tollers as we got our first red dog in early 2004. As with all Toller owners we have a great story to tell about how we first met them.

In October 2003 we were returning home from our second vacation in Nova Scotia and still didn’t know that Tollers existed. We had reservations to stay at the historic Homeport Bed and Breakfast in St. John, New Brunswick. As we were checking in we were greeted by two dogs. I asked my wife what she thought they were and she responded that they might be a Golden mix. As you've already guessed, they were Tollers and we were hooked.

Upon returning home I immediately got on the Internet and started contacting Toller breeders. We really thought that someday we might want to breed Tollers. Little did we know at that time what was involved as we had never shown a dog.

We got our first Toller in April of 2004 from Shirl DeVore of Chesagrove Kennels in Lithia, Fl. We took our handling classes, made a lot of mistakes and also made a lot of new friends, including our very good friends and mentors Rod and Marta Beckstead. We finished our first Toller “Penny” in July of 2006 and our second Toller “Dolly” is well on her way.

If you are traveling in the Canadian Maritimes and need a great place to stay, contact the Homeport B&B. They are Toller friendly.
